Through MC1 it is linked to pigment formation in the skin; through MC4 to appetite and sexual function. Melanotan 2 vs melanotan 1 — the difference
Melanotan 1 and melanotan 2 are often confused, but they are different substances. Melanotan 2 has never been approved for that and remains a research substance: it acts on more receptors, stays active longer and therefore has a broader effect and side-effect profile.
