What does semax do?

How does semax work?
Semax is a heptapeptide derived from a fragment of the hormone ACTH. It is thought to raise the production of BDNF (brain-derived neurotrophic factor), a protein important for the growth and maintenance of nerve cells. It also appears to influence the dopamine and serotonin systems, which explains the link to attention and mood. Most of the research comes from Russia and from animal models.
Dosage and reconstitution
Semax ships as a lyophilised vial that you mix yourself with bacteriostatic water. In the literature it is usually studied in short courses of several days, often once or twice a day; the exact protocols vary by study.
