What does cagrilintide do?
Cagrilintide is best known in research circles for appetite and satiety. It is a long-acting amylin analogue: it mimics amylin, the hormone that gives you a full feeling after a meal. How does cagrilintide work?
Cagrilintide acts on the amylin receptors in the brain. It is thought to strengthen the feeling of fullness there and slow gastric emptying, so food stays in the stomach longer. Amylin works through a different route than GLP-1, and it is exactly that complement that makes it interesting in research. Long-acting means one administration lasts longer — weekly in studies. Most of the work is still in a research setting; GradePurity supplies it for that purpose only.
Cagrilintide and semaglutide (CagriSema)
In almost every study of cagrilintide, semaglutide shows up. The combination of the two — known as CagriSema — is studied because they work through different routes: amylin (cagrilintide) and GLP-1 (semaglutide) complement each other. In phase-3 research that combination was linked to stronger effects on weight and blood sugar than either alone. Cagrilintide vs retatrutide
Cagrilintide and retatrutide are both researched around weight, but they are very different molecules. Retatrutide acts on three receptors at once (GLP-1, GIP and glucagon); cagrilintide works through the amylin route and is usually studied alongside a GLP-1 such as semaglutide, not as a replacement. Dosage and reconstitution
Cagrilintide ships as a lyophilised vial that you mix yourself with bacteriostatic water. In research it is usually given weekly because of its long duration of action; the exact protocols vary by study and are documented in the literature.
